Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Oral-Maxillofacial Surgery is a surgical specialty which involves the diagnosis, surgery and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries, and defects involving both the functional and aesthetic aspects of the hard and soft tissues of the oral and maxillofacial region. The oral surgeons also perform surgeries in association with other medical specialities and super specialities like Department of Neurosurgery, Surgical Oncology, ENT, General Surgery, and Ophthalmology.
We offer training to Under Graduate students to students from III Year and IV (Final) Year of B.D.S, Post Graduate training.The Department now further,is a centre for training to Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD) in the subject of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery offered under the MUHS Nashik University of Health Sciences, under the guidance of Prof.Dr. Shranbasappa R. Japati, PhD Guide.
Goals and Objectives
- Provide excellent state-of-the-art education for undergraduate students, graduate dentists, and post-graduate students in routine and advanced forms of oral-maxillofacial surgery.
- Deliver high-quality clinical care for patients requiring oral-maxillofacial surgical expertise.
- Advance the knowledge base of oral-maxillofacial surgical specialists via scholarly work; research, publications, and presentations on a national and international basis.
- Collaborate with other health professions to deliver education and patient care to those best served by a team approach.
- More emphasis on research & innovations.

Key features
- The Department boasts its own Minor Operating room facility with 5 Dental chairs. for procedures that may be performed in-house.
- Apart from the clinical area, the department also has its own Seminar Room and Post Graduate Library for the benefit of students being trained.
- For all cases requiring specialized care under General Anesthesia, the Department operates at the Operation Theaters at ACPM Medical Hospital, with an excellent Team of Anesthesiologists, Medical and Para-Medical Staff.
- The Department also has fumigators and ventillator.
